On 26 October 2025, Egypt has signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime during the signing Ceremony hosted by the Government of Viet Nam in Hanoi. The Convention was signed by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology H.E Amr Talaat. 

The UN Convention against Cybercrime is the first comprehensive global treaty addressing cybercrime. It provides States with a range of measures to prevent and combat cybercrime and seeks to strengthen international cooperation in this area. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 24 December 2024, under Resolution 79/243.

So far, 74 States have signed the convention. Article (65) of the Convention stipulates that it will enter into force 90 days after the deposit of the 40th instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval, or accession.
